Weatherzone meteorologist Tristan Meyers said a cold front is expected to surge up the coast from today which will drop temperatures, but don't expect any significant falls of snow if you are thinking about taking the children south for the holidays.
"Snow will be isolated to Victoria and parts of Tasmania, but there is the risk of some on the higher peaks throughout NSW," he said.
While minimum temperatures will head into single digits in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning, there was no sign of rain.
"There is a cold front on the way but there's a mainly negligible chance of rain associated with it," he said.
"Cloud will be patchy and the mornings will be a bit cooler than we have had in the last few weeks.
"Especially Saturday morning will be cool in Port Macquarie with minimums of about six degrees just before the sun rises. It could be a bit cooler and around three or four degrees at Kempsey."
Winds will whip up conditions at the beach and keen surfers can expect an increase in swell.
"On Friday southerly winds of about 20 to 25km/h will increase and work up the coast, but they should ease off by Saturday morning," Mr Meyers said.
"The swell should build to between four and six feet by Friday and heading into Saturday and offshore winds should make for pleasant surfing."
