Mr Macpherson had the out-of-the-box idea of hiring out the local cinema, Majestic Cinemas, and broadcasting the big question on screen before a private screening of Notting Hill, Miss Owers' favourite film.
The happy couple were thrilled to be starting their life together and Mr Macpherson said it couldn’t have gone any better.
“I just thought about it one day and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate the day,” he said.
“It was something different. I can’t say Notting Hill was my favourite movie beforehand, but it is now.”
Of course everything went to plan, with the ecstatic Katherine saying yes.
“It was a big shock, but a really good one,” she said.
“He basically just asked if I wanted to see a movie, and all of a sudden the proposal popped up. It turned out well - I said yes.”
Mr Macpherson would like to send his thanks to the team at Majestic Cinemas who helped make the special day unfold perfectly.
“The guys at Majestic Cinemas came in with champagne and flowers,” he said.
