Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) annual Open Day is from 10am until 2pm and everyone is welcome.
Families can meet the men and women who keep us safe, assist with rescues and critical incidents, and learn more about what they do.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said: "This new facility is a huge improvement on the Hay Street station which has served our community since 1958, but unfortunately no longer meets the needs of today's firefighters".
There will be tours of the new $3.9 million state of the art fire station and its facilities, fire safety demonstrations, advice on installing smoke alarms, changing smoke alarm batteries and preparing a home fire escape plan.
"Kids can also see the fire trucks as well as firefighting equipment - there will be something there for the whole family," Mrs Williams said.
Station Commander Derek Alford said: "With winter approaching, the open day is a timely opportunity to talk to the experts about home fire safety".
"Winter is the worst time of the year for home fires, with 60 per cent of all house fires occurring in the cooler months of May to September."
The joint FRNSW/GIO online home fire safety audit is a great way to identify fire risks throughout the home.
