Volunteers co-ordinator Debbie Ward said they were faced with some challenges over the two-day event, but they got on with the job.
"The start of the weekend certainly made for an interesting experience, but overall it all went well," she said.
"We had over 2000 volunteers all willing to tackle the weather and they had a great time doing it."
Ms Ward said they worked hard to keep their number one ranking as the race with the best Ironman volunteers.
"Port Macquarie holds the number one position and it's due to the volunteers, the community support and they all take great pride in setting the bar," she said.
"A lot of our volunteers come back again and again and that shows they really love what they do. There's no sitting back now, we'll see what we can do to improve."
She said the there was a lot of respect from the volunteers to the athletes and the athletes to the volunteers."Sometimes it may not seem like it because the athletes are so focused on what they're doing, but when they're finished they always comment on the great job our volunteers do," she said.
"Everyone has a story to tell and, like the athletes, there's always a de-brief when they come in where they remember certain things that happen and really like to share it."
