Competitors in the Groms (U14), Cadets (U16) and Juniors (U18) all fought a series of hard battles in an attempt to claim a coveted NSW title and qualify for the NRMA NSW Team for the Australian Surf Festival.
After finishing in the runner-up spot in the Junior Men at event one of the NRMA NSW Bodyboard State Titles in Port Stephens, Shayden Schrader (Port Macquarie) managed to go one notch better claiming the highly competitive final.
In a final where all bodyboarders posted respectable mid-range scores, Schrader mustered up a heat total of 10.84 (out of a possible 20 points) to get a narrow victory over runner-up Keiran Riches (Coffs Harbour) by a 0.44 margin.
