The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise project took seven club members and five partners and friends to the village of Kharikhola in the Everest region.
Project coordinator Kerrie Wood said the earthquake was a little close to home for everyone on that trip.
"We saw so much, and did so much, and know what the impact is going to be for the communities," she said.
The club is unaware about the situation at Kharikhola due to a lack of communication after the earthquake but Ms Wood had a brief conversation with the club's contact in Nepal, Kami Sherpa. His house in Kathmandu is still standing but its contents are destroyed.
The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise has supported projects in Nepal since 2001 including lending its support to Mera Primary School at Kharikhola.
"Everything we have done for the community and the school probably is more important now than ever," Ms Wood said.
She said the club would continue to help build the community's capacity to become independent.
