The club’s Keith Heap said it would make for exciting golf which starts this morning with the Sponsors Day and an exhibition by the pros at 10am on the 10th hole.
Dimi Papadatos will be one of the main attractions at the course.
Papadatos won the event in 2013 just months after turning pro.
Heap said the win helped to kick start the young golfer’s career.
“After that he ran second in an event at Western Australia and won the New Zealand open so he’s very keen to come back and play at the course that helped him get a start,” he said.
Among the rest of the professional field is Matt Millar who won the NZ PGA, Aaron Townsend won the Victorian PGA, Neil Sarkis won this event in 2010.
Heap said Nathan Green was arguably the in form player to watch having played on the American tour.
And Leigh McKechnie will be back again.
Port Macquarie’s Andrew Kirkman has enjoyed a successful start to his professional career.
He was the joint leader in the first round of an event recently and the second day was washed out giving him the tied win.
He then went on to win at Castle Hill and is in the top 10 of the order of merit.
Heap said the field should enjoy the course which is in “magical condition”.
As an added bonus former Australian cricketer, Damien Fleming will be the guest speaker at the Sportsman’s dinner.
