Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said showers and storms were expected in Port Macquarie from Saturday night into Sunday with more rain forecast for the start of next week.
"The weekend will start off dry and warm with a top of 26 or 27 on Friday and 27 on Saturday and there will be a light sea breeze," he said.
"From then the clouds will gradually increase and some rain and maybe a storm could be expected on Saturday night."
Mr Dutschke said light winds could also be expected throughout Friday, but Sunday was looking overcast with the chance of a significant amount of rain forecast throughout the day across the region.
"That rain could bring between 20 and 30 millimetres to some parts of Port Macquarie with the possibility of another 20 millimetres throughout Sunday night," Mr Dutschke said.
It was due to a low pressure system which was expected to develop, but the amount of rainfall due to that system was difficult to predict.
"Sunday will only be 23 or 24 degrees and it will become windy with southerly winds pushing up the coast due to that system."
From Monday an increase in swell was predicted with the possibility of wave heights ranging from five to 10 feet.
"Those powerful waves could verge on being dangerous," Mr Dutschke said.
