He made 45 points despite failing to score at his final hole.
Playing from a handicap of 18, Atkin had 25 points out and 19 home to win B grade and be the only player in the field to make more than 40 points.
He made one four pointer and 10 three pointers and for the nine holes from the fifth hole through to the 13th he made 27 points.
Rob O'Brien also failed to score at his finishing hole yet went on to win a countback to be the B grade runner up with 39 points.
He had 21 out and 18 home to count out Peter Field who had 22 out and 17 home.
Field made a point at his finishing hole making him the only one of the three placegetters in B grade to score at his finishing hole.
Rod Barnaby made full use of his handicap making 34 points from the 12 holes where he got a shot and just six points from the six holes where he did not get a shot.
He won A grade with 40 points and his birdies came at the eighth, 11th and 14th holes.
Steve McCarthy had five birdies in his round of 73 off the stick to be the A grade runner up with 39 points.
He beat Peter Ebert on a countback.
Forty points was also the winning score in C grade and this was achieved by Geoff Bollard from his 22 handicap.
He made seven three pointers in going out with 21 and coming home with 19.
Les Smith was the C grade runner up with 39 points while John Fisher beat three others on a countback for third with 38 points.The Clarence Street Newsagency scratch score was won by Stefan Walker with a par round , the ball competition went down to 34 points on a countback and the nearest to the pins were won by David Dale, Dave Greentree, Rick Bourne and Garry Bannister.
