Bendigo Bank want everyone who takes part in the 8.30pm lights out to take a photo of how you occupy your time until 9.30pm.

You might eat dinner by candlelight, sing songs around a camp fire, blow bubbles, play cards with friends or other games, expand your mind with trivia or wash the dog.

Think outside the square, take a snap and email it to portmacquariemailbox@bendigoadelaide.com.au or drop it into the branch at 2/158 Lake Road by April 2.

Your entry will go into the draw to win an Earth Hour T-shirt and a copy of Planet to Plate: The Earth Hour Cookbook.

The cookbook features 52 recipes from Australia's top chefs including Guy Grossi, Margaret Fulton, Kylie Kwong, and Neil Perry.

The bank is a major partner in Australia for the Earth Hour initiative and hopes to turn people on to climate change consequences through its support of Earth Hour.

This year Earth Hour celebrates Australian food producers by reminding us all of the effect of higher temperatures and changing rainfall patterns.

Port Macquarie branch manager Kerry Lumby said: "Our region is a supplier of food to the Australian market, so we have a big stake in what's happening with the climate".

"It's our responsibility to take care of our planet," she said.

Hastings Public School also supported 2015 Earth Hour with a poster competition.

The school's environment ministers, Matilda Lindeman and Angus Collins, encouraged kindergarten to year 6 students to show their dedication to saving the planet by making an A4 or A3 poster to advertise and persuade people to turn off their electronics and lights during Earth Hour on Saturday from 8.30pm until 9.30pm.
