Young ladies Chloe Allum and Jade Atkins have both been dealt a severe blow by cancer.
Chloe's father died three years ago next month from oesophageal cancer.
"Mum was diagnosed in 2013 and then relapsed last year before she passed away on Remembrance Day," Jade said.
The 11-year-olds had talked about taking part in the campaign at school in previous years, but when Jade's mum passed away from acute myeloid leukaemia, it all "became real".
The girls decided this was the year and got the blessing of their remaining parents to go ahead, but not to be brave and shave.
The year 6 students will dye their hair - Jade in shocking pink and Chloe is outrageous purple - as part of a huge fundraiser at Lake Cathie reserve on Sunday at noon.
"It last for eight washes," Chloe said.
The fun starts at 10am with a sausage sizzle, garage sale, bake sale and children's activities to help the girls reach their goal of $1200.
Jade and Chloe will happily colour spray anyone's hair for a gold coin donation and their will be bubble art for the kids.
The enterprising young ladies have had family and friends help to bring it all together and would like to thank the Port Golf Club, Woolworths, Coles, DPC Wholesalers, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for allowing them to use the reserve and supplying a marquee.
"We'd also like to thank everyone who has made a donation for the garage sale, and the cake makers," Jade said.
Chloe is no stranger to fundraising efforts having helped to organise a seven house garage sale to raise money for her father's treatment.
Despite the tragic bond they share, Jade and Chloe demonstrate strength and courage.
The Lake Cathie event is on rain or shine from 10am until 2pm on Sunday.
