A MAN appeared in court on Monday after allegedly breaking into a Mid North Coast home and leading police on a chase with a toddler in the rear of a car.

Officers were called to a Gap Road, Hat Head, home about 9pm on Sunday after the residents said a man had broken in and stolen a wallet, purse and other belongings.
Police chased on foot but the 32-year-old escaped in a car, albeit at a speed less than 50 kilometres per hour.
The 25-year-old woman driving the car eventually pulled over, and was arrested by officers who noticed her two-year-old sitting in the vehicle's rear.
The man jumped out of the car but was caught a short time later.
The woman was charged with drive recklessly or furiously or speed or in a manner dangerous, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and aggravated commit serious indictable offence in dwelling – people there.
She will appear in Kempsey Local Court on March 27, after being given conditional bail on Sunday night.
