The charges of aggravated sexual assault of victim under the age of 16 years and commit act of indecency with or towards person under 16 years were first mentioned in Port Macquarie Local Court on July 24 last year.
Mr O’Callaghan, 53, shook slightly as he sat in the same court yesterday to hear solicitor Michael Dampney argue the alleged victims should give evidence in person.
But magistrate Thomas Hodgson disagreed because he did not “find substantial reasons” why more than the evidence submitted was needed.
Mr O’Callaghan told the magistrate he did not intend to call witnesses for his defence.
The magistrate said the trial will take place in Port Macquarie District Court.
Bail was not needed and Mr O’Callaghan will not have to attend court on March 25 for arraignment.
