Port Macquarie is the first NSW stop for the 'Brick by brick: Building your own national capital' exhibition, which aims to educate people about Canberra's significance, its history, memorials, landmarks and infrastructure.
With more than 30,000 Lego bricks to play with, it not only helps familiarise people with well-known institutions and buildings, but encourages budding designers to build their own national capital of the future.
If you've ever dreamt of building your own city, here's your chance.
Or if you're feeling confident, you can follow the construction sheets to replicate landmarks such as Old Parliament House, Scrivener Dam, Captain Cook Memorial Jet or the Embassy of the People's Republic of China.
While the exhibition is geared towards primary school children, library manager Virginia Cox said they were also considering adults only nights and mother/daughter and father/son sessions.
At last Friday's opening, Mayor Peter Besseling said the interactive display provided a "great activity for the whole family and people of all abilities".
"We invite parents, children and people of all ages to come along and have a go at the building sheets provided," he said. The National Capital Authority's visitor services officer Nathan Ward received an excited welcome, with students itching to get their hands on the Lego tables.
"This is all about engaging young people in particular with our national capital, about education as well as having fun," he said.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4.30pm daily until April 8.
Participation is free, however, children must be supervised.
Lego lovers can also share their creations on the Brick by Brick Facebook page at www.facebook.com/brickxbrick
School groups are encouraged to make a booking by phoning the library on 6581 8755.
