Instead, his effort of matching the 8848-metre ascent gain of the famed mountain has raised a little more than $1300.
As a family man, he saw the need for shade sails to give shelter to children playing at Livvi’s Place at Westport Park first hand.
The sails will cost $20,000 and will benefit many people in the community who take their children to the playground.
Mr Vogele took it upon himself to undertake a challenging task which only 30 people have responded to.
This is a generous community not backward about giving to a good cause, so it is puzzling why this call to arms has gone virtually unheeded.
Come on everyone, throw in a few dollars to help make these shade sails a reality and keep our kids safe from the harmful rays of the sun as they enjoy time outdoors in the fresh air.
