After another senseless act of vandalism, the clubhouse was left smeared with ugly graffiti tags, costing the club, and ultimately the children who play the sport, valuable dollars out of their annual budget.

After the Port News shared their story last week, it prompted discussion about the effectiveness of providing high profile public spaces for the purpose of creative graffiti/street art.

During his visit to the region for a performance at Festival of the Sun, Jackie Onassis frontman Raph Dixon said providing designated space for street art inspires creativity and innovation.

As a community, the Hastings could lead the way in embracing an opportunity to beat vandalism by nurturing a street art culture that sets a standard for what is acceptable and appreciated.
