Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the corner of Ocean Drive and Lake Road at 11.19am.
They found a 1994 Holden Statesman on fire on the eastern edge of Ocean Drive.
Station officer Dawn Maynard said "the passenger compartment was completely alight when we got there".
A woman, her daughter and three grandchildren stood and watched as the fire fighters extinguished their blazing wreck.
The car's driver donated what was left of the vehicle to the State Emergency Service for training purposes.
No one was injured and police are not investigating the fire.
