There is one more step the club needs to take to make the dream a realisation. It needs to raise funds.
The organisation is asking the wider community to donate to the cause to see the next stage complete.
To move forward with the development, the club need to fund an ecologist to research the area near the cycle club off Burrawan Forest Drive south of Port Macquarie.
The cost for that to happen is $2000 and a further almost $500 to lodge the development application with Port-Macquarie Hastings Council.
“That’s our hurdle at the moment,” club president Craig Maltman said.
“We are not under any illusions. It’s going to be very hard to raise the money especially at this time of the year.
“But every little bit will help, even $2. If 1000 people could spare that change, we’d be almost there.”
He said once the hurdle was overcome the club could then apply for government grants to help with the construction of the track.
“We’re hoping to reach the tally hopefully by the end of January,” he said.
A bank account has been set up at the NAB for donations.
Hastings Valley BMX Club bank account details: BSB 082-798 account number 740248861.
“Anyone that donates, please put your name as reference so that you can be recognised,” Maltman said.
