IT'S time for celebrating. Christmas, New Year and not having to read an amateurish touch report for at least four weeks, bonus.

Port Touch players have had a good build up to Christmas with two parties last week with drinks and pizzas supplied by the club.
A storm on Tuesday cut short a potential big session, as some players were in the mood for a real social evening. Brought back memories of 30 odd years ago heading to "Smuts" (now Downunder) after touch.
Not me of course, I'm only relating the story. Anyway, thank goodness for the storm I say.
Results from Tuesday in the men, Everything Is Awesome 2 d Wave Bowl 1, Finnian's Irish Tavern 8 d Ian Brown Sand & Gravel 6 (probably could have done better if one player hadn't spent most of the time in the "naughty corner"), Coast2Coast 4 d Harvest Screen Print 0 (obviously severely handicapped without the "Gun", Mark Bullock) Essential Energy and King and Campbell had a four-all draw and Fernhill Tavern 12 d Steeline 6.
The women's scores, Fishers Plumbing Supplies and Hastings Physiotherapy had a torrid match finishing in a 2 all draw, Daycare On Lincoln and O'Rourkes really got stuck into it with some good touch being played and it was Daycare who got the money 4-3, Port Orthodontics 5 d Telstra Port Central 2, Laurieton Hotel 8 d ASN 3, Watson's Caravans d Khodary's Pharmacy 0 and Constable Printing won on a forfeit. Thursday afternoon's mixed competition was played in beautiful conditions after thunderstorms again threatened to force a stop to the event. There was three forfeits, which was by no means ideal, but everyone who turned up had a sensational time.
Acting Santa, Adrian Daley, had a stack of little helpers in the sleigh (golf cart) with him and proved very popular even though he didn't have the reindeer out front.
Results were, ASN and McGrath Estate Agents drew 3 all, Blood, Sweat& Beers 8 d Stoked 1, Better Homes and Nat's Team drew 6 all, Bell's Furniture One 5 d GN Painting & Decorating/El Paso 1, LDS Tiling 6 d Sports & Spinal Physio 4, and Ray White Real Estate, CD Bathrooms and Harvest Screen Printing all won on a forfeit. We were lucky enough to have Life Members, Daryl Fletcher and Ian "Stamps" Kelly as our guests last Tuesday with both chipping in and helping serve players with food and drinks. Old habits die hard I guess. Thanks boys.
Congratulations to Greg Oaten for an excellent job in his role as Referees Director, to Charity Elford for getting involved in reffing and to Life Member, Ron Kerr for making a comeback to whistle blowing and giving guidance to some of our up and comers.
Thanks to Sam Flanagan and Tracy Wilcox for taking the initiative by jumping in and helping out last week. We really appreciate it.
Well that's it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Port News readers and remember, keep in touch.
