Ryan Carroll produced a dominant performance to take out first place in the under 15 board, continuing a strong tradition of success in water sports for the branch.
It was on the beach where the Mid North Coast team produced some very solid results at Catherine Hill Bay, near Swansea.
Tayla Maybon (U13 South West Rocks) finished fifth in both the sprint and flags on day one of the championships.
“It’s been a really great trip and I’ve had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people.
“I’m very happy with the run as I have had some injury problems over the last couple of seasons so it’s just nice to be running again,” she said.
Port Macquarie Josh Dwyer went within inches of pulling off an unlikely victory in the U14 flags, but had his hand knocked away at the last second.
“I’m happy with my performance as it was very warm running the flags,” Dwyer said.
Assistant team manager Sharron Leishman was happy with the performance of her branch.
“We’re a bit light on in the 15-19 age group this year as it’s the age where a lot of our competitors are getting jobs and have school commitments.
“However we have a great bunch of juniors both here and back at home who are coming through the ranks,” Leishman said.
“The team has bonded together very well, and we’ve had a fantastic time at the competition.”
