Despite the hustle and bustle of last minute Christmas shopping, patrons in the Port Macquarie CBD will be asked to take time out of their busy schedules.
At 2.11pm, the Catholic Church will ring their bells 11 times to mark the beginning of two minutes and 11 seconds of silence.
The bells will then ring a further two times for the two victims of the last week'sd Martin Place siege whose families will have an empty space in their hearts which will never be filled especially during this festive season.
Facilitator Mark van der Veer encouraged as many people as possible to go out the front of their offices or visit one of the strategic locations which will be placed around Port Macquarie.
All locations will meet at 2pm and include the Sir Edmund Barton statue, Glasshouse steps, council offices or one of the many cafes.
Mr van der Veer said last week's minister's fraternal meeting generated the idea of supporting the #illridewithyou concept, but at a local level.
"It's symbolic of our free country that we can go into a community to gather and share stories," he said.
"I encourage people to take photos of their reflection and post them on social media with the hashtag #illridewithyouportmacquarie"
After the memorial people are then encouraged to join the gathering at the Christmas tree on the Town Green for more reflection.
"We're going to knock on all the business houses in town and encourage them to come out and stand together," Mr van der Veer said.
It's not the first time the town has remembered victims of a tragedy after a similar event was attended by about 400 people after the September 11 terrorist attacks. "I wanted something a bit more organic than that," Mr van der Veer said.
