The 200 metres of Christmas lights will also brighten the hospital's acute care centre and the North Coast Cancer Unit.
Bunnings Warehouse Port Macquarie presented the hospital with the twinkling donation last week.
Bunnings manager Scott Lavender said he was delighted to be able to help the hospital during the holiday season.
"The team at Bunnings Warehouse Port Macquarie is pleased to be able to help spread some Christmas cheer at Port Macquarie Base Hospital," he said. "We hope patients, families and staff all enjoy the lights and we wish them a very merry Christmas."
Bunnings' activities organiser Kylie Morrison also visited the hospital's paediatric unit accompanied by Santa, where the pair distributed gifts to young patients.
Nurse unit manager Cheryl Nolte said Santa's visit brought a good deal of excitement to the paediatric unit.
"It's always wonderful to see kids smile, but there's something extra special about those smiles when children are in hospital," Mrs Nolte said.
"Santa's visit was certainly a crowd pleaser, not only for our young patients, their siblings and parents but also for staff."
