Daniels will begin his new role in January and was champing at the bit to start.
"I am extremely excited about the future of football, particularly on the Mid-North Coast," Daniels said. "This is a challenging role that provides plenty of scope for growth for the sport.
"The success of the Socceroos, the A-League and W-League and the arrival in January of the Asian Champions League are all pointers to the sport gaining a stronger foothold in Australia.
"Football Mid-North Coast is well positioned to capitalise on the increased profile these events provide the sport."
Football Mid-North Coast chairman Graham Pilkie could not speak highly enough of Mr Daniels.
"We're hoping that Peter can take us in a more strategic direction to develop our media policy and to grow the game within the zone," he said. "I believe he can generally take us to a new level not only by growing the game in the area and making people more aware but by attracting more players, more sponsors and more publicity.
"He will be able to liaise with the local council areas and work to improve the facilities for our sport."
Daniels said registrations will open in early January and he was expecting continued support for the sport at the local level.
"Our juniors are the future of the sport. We have to provide these young players with a path through the ranks and provide them opportunities to better themselves in the sport and as young citizens," Daniels said.
The former long-serving Fairfax media employee said his role included raising the corporate profile of the sport in the area from Bulahdelah to South West Rocks - which includes about 29 clubs - and creating and implementing strategic plans for the short and long-term benefit of the sport.
"With the support of our footballing fans, players, supporters and sponsors, we will grow the sport in a professional manner," Daniels said.
"This is an exciting time to be involved in football in this country."
