A JOB well done is worthy of reward and the year 11 students at Port Macquarie High School, who recently completed their preliminary course in preparation for the HSC, were recognised at a formal school assembly recently.

The top academic award went to two worthy recipients in Erin Moss and Shanley Porto who tied for the outstanding student award.
Special guests at the assembly included Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams, executive principal Hastings Secondary College Dr Wayne Ible, P&C Association president Leanne Burbridge and Bernadette Gammon from Charles Sturt University.
Special awards presented by Mrs Williams were: citizenship - Ashleigh Cocking; house point winner - Hayley Newell; improvement - Scott Thompson; sport - Hannah McKie and Max Lewis-Barnett; creative and performing arts - Angelica Familar, Lachlan Fardy and Jamie Roberts; year advisers - Emily Barham, Gabby Evans, Kate Harris, Maisy Hui, Rhiannon Kennedy, Ryan Milroy, Natasha Newberry, Mitchell Quiney, Tia Tyler and Zac Waller-Ford.
Winner of first in subject awards were: sport, lifestyle and recreation - Scott Thompson; drama - Lachlan Fardy; standard English - Joshua Trowbridge; English studies - Salote Coalala-William; hospitality - Breearna Walsh and Jamie Roberts; information processes and technology - Madison Marchant; industrial technology timber products and furniture industries - Hugh Hurkett; metals and engineering - Lochlan Wattus; agriculture - Courtney Galbraith; retail - Scott Thompson.
Dr Ible and Ms Gammon presented academic and excellence awards to Kelsey Burbridge, Ashleigh Cocking, Sarah Fardell, Jasmine Jackson, Denholm Miles, Amelia Pitt, Laura Reed, Jamie Roberts, Erin Moss and Shanley Porto.
Next year's school captains Amelia Pitt and Lachlan Fardy, and vice captains Laura Reed and Max Lewis-Barnett, were formally inducted and presented with their blazers by Mrs Burbridge.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) members were also welcomed for 2015 and were presented with their badges and certificates by the SRC coordinators Jacynta Moylan and Damien Huens.
