A TROUPE of talented St Columba Anglican School (SCAS) dancers has taken out the award for best group choreography at a prominent Sydney dance festival.

Winning a place in the grand finals was a feat in itself for the group, as the Fast+Fresh Dance Festival is renowned for unearthing the country's finest young dance talent.
The SCAS group's winning piece, which was choreographed by year 12 student Mikaela Smith, was chosen from 400 audition pieces and 100 performances during the heats to win one of nine major awards.
Titled What is Power? the performance starred Grace Caldwell, Erin Duly, Inez Jacobs, Amber Jenkins and Rosie Laird.
SCAS's very proud dance teacher, Shelly Kelly said: "A festival of this kind gives students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent and what they've learnt in the dance curriculum for composition".
The Fast+Fresh Dance Festival was conceived seven years ago for Australia's most creative dancers and choreographers aged 21 and younger.
Judged by industry experts, the festival offers young performers highly sought after prizes such as Sydney Dance Company classes, dance gear and show tickets.
Many previous winners are now studying at some of the nation's most elite dance institutions.
