The bout against Gulzhaina Ubbiniyazova of Kazakstan was scheduled for late yesterday afternoon.
Watts breezed through her first round fight against Korea’s Jina Park.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist proved far to classy for her opponent with Watts taking a unanimous points win.
Understandably her family have been closely watching her progress and her uncle Anthony Watts said the boxer is as determined as ever.
Anthony said his niece responded to one of his texts after her first fight simply with, “I came here for a reason”.
“She was just far too good for her,” Anthony said.
“Her opponent had no answer for what she was throwing at her.
“It’s obvious she’s confident and she has gotten off to a great start.”
But Anthony said she will still have her work cut out for her despite coming off a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.
“That was her first fight since the gold medal,” he said.
“But winning here for her would be just as special, if not more because she’s up against the world’s best and not just the best in the Commonwealth.”
