WHEN the Port Macquarie News informed our readers about the theft of one of the Hello Koala sculptures, the outpouring of support from the community was overwhelming.
There is no question this project is one of the best examples of business and community working constructively on a project for the benefit of the entire region.
This initiative has captured the imagination of locals and visitors.
Every day we see examples where people – particularly children – are being photographed draped around any one of these beautiful sculptures.
To have one of these eye-catching koalas stolen belittles the enormous goodwill generated by this successful project.
This community should be suitably outraged by this latest act of vandalism.
