The faces behind the Great Grass Hair Challenge, dedicated mums Jo Turnbull and Tamara Grieves, have been madly sawing, snipping, gluing and painting colourful centrepieces for the big event which is expected to attract 160 people.
"Ticket sales are going well, but there are still tickets available," Mrs Turnbull said.
"It's all about having fun and enjoying the horse racing. It's going to be a hoot."
Tickets are $55 and can be purchased from Port City Bowling Club.
Entry includes a complimentary glass of champagne, buffet lunch, live entertainment, sweeps, a fashion parade and prizes for fashions on the field.
The luncheon is the second of four fundraising events under the Great Grass Hair Challenge umbrella to raise much-needed money for research into neuroblastoma .
Unfortunately, Mrs Turnbull knows all too well the dire statistics behind the "hideous childhood cancer", having lost her three-year-old daughter Tess in 2011.
Driven by Tess' fighting spirit, Mrs Turnbull's goal is to reach a target of $15,000 and "raise the profile of the disease, which will hopefully lead to more research to find a cure".
