The burn is likely to be conducted between 9am and 6pm.
In the event it cannot proceed this weekend the NSW RFS will consider re-scheduling the burn for the following weekend.
The hazard reduction burns are designed to reduce the risk of damaging fires and the potential loss of life and/or property.
Council’s director infrastructure and asset management Jeffery Sharp said all hazard reduction burns were being undertaken as part of a plan developed in conjunction with the NSW RFS.
He said the burns would help significantly reduce the level of ground fuel and hence the potential for extreme bushfire events.
“There is only a small window of opportunity each year to carry out hazard reduction burns and prolonged wet or dry weather could prevent them from taking place,” Mr Sharp said.
Members of the public are asked to exercise caution in the vicinity of all planned hazard reduction burns. Traffic management will be implemented as required.
