This year’s theme is - Our Story, Our Soul, Our Food - and incorporates the people, stories and heritage that have influenced our diverse culinary offering.
At a sponsors’ gathering Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peter Besseling congratulated coordinator Necia Waghorn for snaring celebrity television chef Peter Kuruvita for the event cooking demonstrations at 11am and 1pm on Sunday and the sold out Tastings Dinner on Saturday evening, both at Fig Bar.
“Tastings on Hastings is about celebrating what’s good in our community,” Cr Besseling said.
He added that people are now coming to Port Macquarie specifically for the event.
Port Macquarie- Hastings Council has presented the event for a decade and mayor Besseling said sponsorship from local businesses has more than doubled this year.
“Special thanks also go to our fellow presenting sponsors Cassegrain Wines, Coast Front Realty, Doppio or Nothing Espresso, Marketplace Events and Pye Provedores,” he said.
Ms Waghorn said the emphasis this year is on the event being more sustainable.
“With more than 15,000 visitors expected, and countless tastings plates, drinks, local products and produce for sale.”
There will be non-stop entertainment. Roll up at the Town Green end of Horton Street and Clarence Street from 9am until 4pm on Sunday.
