Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is carrying out paver repairs on the corner of Horton and William Streets in Port Macquarie's CBD.
The repair works are being undertaken as part of the Town Centre Master Plan (TCMP) and council's operational delivery program with funding from TCMP reserve funds.
The project includes replacement of damaged Bluestone pavers within the intersection approach ramps as well as the paver bands in the adjacent footpaths.
As a part of council's feet on the street strategy, the works on all approaches at this intersection are expected to be completed by early December to avoid the busy Christmas holiday and shopping period.
Council's director of infrastructure services and asset management Jeffery Sharp said the work is being undertaken in a number of individual stages and each has a specific traffic plan to manage both vehicles and pedestrian movement through the intersection.
"As is to be expected, closing any leg of this busy intersection creates additional traffic in other areas however we have undertaken extensive planning with our contractor to ensure the works are completed as expediently as possible and with minimum interruption to the public," Mr Sharp said.
