The MNC Arbor Weekend and Tree Climbing Competition is an annual event and this year will pit some of the region's most agile and swift tree scalers to the test at Bruce Porter Reserve in Laurieton over two days.
The Hastings' very own Tarzans will go up against the best in a series of competitive events including the foot lock, throw line, rescue, work climb, speed climb and the coveted King of the Ring.
For organiser Adam Jarvis, of Woodvale Tree Services, the competition will be an opportunity for some of the Hastings' best to shine.
"We've got James Stapleton who is currently ranked in the top 10 in Australia so we are hoping he will do really well in his signature events the foot lock and the thrown line," Mr Jarvis said.
"We've also got young Henry Siems who won the rookie of the year title in our first year competition so he will be looking to get in the top five at least this year."
More than 30 competitors have registered for the event, which is one of the only tree climbing championships held in New South Wales, including a large contingent from both Sydney and Queensland.
The top two tree climbers at the close of competition on Sunday will go on to represent New South Wales at the state tree climbing championships in December.
Highlights of the competition from a spectators perspective will be the work climb, which will test competitors strength, agility and skill over a five station course set 40 metres high in the treetops.
Competition commences at 10am Saturday and the public are invited to attend.
