With the unemployment so high here on the Mid-North Coast, wouldn’t you think they would try to do something about it?
And there will be more kids leaving school shortly too.
Well, with K Mart complex having 180 stores in it, I would say that’s about 500 jobs and a Masters Store, would be about another 50 or 60 jobs or more, wouldn’t it? Also, another Woolworths on Buller and Short streets, would see a further 20 or 30-plus jobs.
K Mart should have been built back in 2012, it doesn’t look like it starting any time soon, does it?
But our old council cannot make up its mind. Seems certain things can be passed straight away, like a roundabout on Blackbutt Road and other things cannot.
I don’t know who sets the shop rents up here, but they are completely wrong. It has sent a lot of small businesses broke. I wonder could you rent a shop in Chatswood cheaper than here.
I was asked by some visitors in town one day if there was a camera shop anywhere in town. I told them there used to be three stores but they are now all long gone.
One of them went to Tamworth because the rent is, apparently, cheaper.
And I’d also like to comment on Wright Road: it should be left alone. And why isn’t there a back road out of the hospital and onto Lake Road?
