Party chairman Bede Burke expects a strong field of candidates for the December 13 preselection.
“The Nationals have an extremely high level of support in the Oxley electorate, and we hope that a number of prominent members of the community will put themselves forwards as candidates” Mr Burke said.
“The people of Oxley have been well represented by Andrew Stoner for 15 years and now it is time for someone else to take up the fight on their behalf”.
The Oxley electorate stretches from Wauchope and the Hastings Valley in the south up to the Dorrigo plateau in the north, and includes the towns of Kempsey, South-West Rocks, Macksville, Nambucca Heads, Urunga and Bellingen.
Nominations for the preselection close on Friday, November 14.
