weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon said the "miserable kind of rainfall" was being pushed by southerly wind hovering over the Forster region.
"The showers are likely to continue to move up the coast and reach Port Macquarie at around 6.30pm," Mr Dixon said. "Winds on Monday reached an average speed - which is measured in 10-minute sections - at around 40 to 45 kilometres per hour with peaks of gusts up to 60kmh.
"These were from the south and swinging around to the south-west."
Monday's temperatures reached its 25 degree maximum at around midday. This was the forecast top.
Mr Dixon said Tuesday would be cooler with a maximum of about 21 degrees with the possibility of those showers possibly hanging around through the day.
"But they will be light and insignificant," he said.
The meteorologist said the sky should clear on Wednesday with mostly sunny conditions and a slightly warmer temperature of 23 degrees.
"There will be southerly winds abating and turning to a light north-easter which are consistent with summer winds," he said. "By Thursday and Friday it will be quite warm with showers developing late on Thursday and continuing through into Friday.
"That warmth and showers can be put down to a low pressure trough which is slowly making its way across the nation."
