WHILE I support any efforts to reduce global warming the proponents of efforts to abate climate change are barking up the wrong tree.

Most of the global pollution is occuring in the northern hemisphere.
That is why arctic ice is melting and the antarctica sea ice is growing.
Australia can do little to stem the tide unless the highly populated northern neighbours take a stance.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ray Cooper and the Wauchope Historical Society members on obtaining a site for the relocation of the museum.
It shows that the three tiers of government working together, can result in substantial benefits for the Hastings, in this case, Wauchope.
This news is in distinct contrast to the press release in the same paper (Sept. 25th) where Ms Olsen, on behalf of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, claims the multi million budget for the council has been dealt a severe blow by action of the federal government.
Ms Olsen failed to mention the Abbott government inherited a $48.5 billion dollar deficit. Furthermore, the abolition of the carbon tax must surely more than compensate for the $120.000 mentioned by Rebecca Olsen.
Please, no more of this nonsensical, biased, news releases till at least the next election. We appreciate good news stories.

I AM more than a little bemused by the title of "Worlds best practice."
The term is a feature of Accredited management Standards such as ISO 9000 and ISO 14001.
System standards are designed to help organisations ensure they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders while still meeting statutory and regulatory requirements.
It is not sufficient to say a company is going to meet these ideals, they must be audited by an independent certification body not to do so would not be worlds best practice.
This auditing process should be a continuous improvement process not just to make profit but also improve the triple bottom line, that is, OHS, quality and the environment.
I cannot see how cable logging to create a non sustainable mono culture can possible be an environmental improvement.
