Bagust and Davis carded 123 in the competition sponsored by Port Tyreworld, six over par and eight shots clear of the father and son combination of John and Sam Hutchison.
Bagust and John Hutchison had previously been partners and are past winners of the event.
Davis and Bagust were three over par for the opening 18 holes and their round was a mixed bag with six birdies, seven bogeys and a double bogey at the 17th hole. They had just four pars in the opening 18 holes.
Their third nine holes was a more consistent round with a bogey, a double bogey at the sixth hole and seven pars. It is interesting that their double bogeys came at the sixth and 17th holes, two holes that are rated easy but are most likely to destroy a good round.
The Hutchisons had 79 in the morning and 42 for their final nine holes. Surprisingly they did not have a birdie. They made a mess of the first hole, both times making seven. Their final nine was heading for disaster with them being six over par after just four holes. However they steadied, finishing with five straight pars.
Leon Smith and John Cullinane had 124, three behind the Hutchisons and there was a cluster of pairs on 127. Smith and Cullinane took out the 27 holes net event with 112.75, a full shot ahead of Jim Gordon and Peter Sargeson.
Tim Woodman and Greg Haydon won the B grade Foursomes Championship with 137, two better than John Hudson and Brian Delroy who took out the 18 holes net prize with 73.5 after a countback. Russell Gorrie and Neville Moon won a further countback for the 18 holes net runner up prize.
The ball competition went to net 76 for the first 18 holes and the nearest to the pins were won by Ron McLaren, Col Pickering, Jeff Perkins and Bagust.
