THE Port Macquarie Sharks are just one win away from the ultimate season.
They will tackle the Wauchope Blues in the grand final on Sunday and if they can come away with victory they will have their names etched in the record books for an undefeated season.
Wayne Grant has his team firing on all cylinders with a simple forwards game plan working wonders for much of the year.
Led by powerful props Matt Jones, Mitchell Smith and Kane Love, their skilful halves and powerful outside backs have done their job on the back of the go forward to remain undefeated all season.
"We'll be changing nothing," Grant said.
"We aren't making a big deal about it. We'll go in low key, play our game and hopefully we'll go well."
Wauchope has a strong team and will be at an advantage with the grand final venue being Lank Bain Complex.
"It's up to us to lift and make sure we do our jobs," Grant said.
"All the boys have been so committed. They have a great focus about them and you can't fault them at training.
"It's just a matter of holding it for one more week to ensure we can go the distance."
Grant was happy to heap praise on his three key forwards but was also quick to point out that the entire time has played a huge part in the success they have had this year.
"Our game plan has revolved around them, especially our three key front rowers, as they always seem to lay the platform for us and it allows our halves and our backs to do their job," he said.
"No one has really stood out as much as those three but in saying that it's not like those three are the reason we are in the grand final.
"It's been across the board where everyone has hooked in and taken the bull by the horns."
