Yes folks, the Big Koala is coming.
Arts and Health Australia, the organisation behind the Hello Koala Public Sculpture Trail officially launched by Premier Mike Baird on Monday, will fund the production of a 3 metre high koala with a 1 metre high joey.
The question is, where should it be located?
Executive director Arts and Health Australia Margret Meagher said the idea has been brewing since February.
“We decided it would be fun to create a Big Koala as big things are making a comeback,” Mrs Meagher said.
The model would be based on the metre high koalas developed for the Hello Koala trail.
“We will use our model scaled up using digital technology because it is based on the distinctive Port Macquarie breed of koalas.”
Mrs Meagher said there are four sites being considered but no application will be submitted to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council until a site is confirmed.
