In front of a bumper crowed of about 200 spectators the Brawlers brought up their first ever competition win against the Central Coast Knockout Saffires.
The Port team took the game 184-171.
A humble but excited media officer and Breakwall Brawler blocker, Renee Ansley, said her team was lucky to hold on for the win.
"It was one of those games that if it went for another 10 minutes we probably would have lost," she said.
"We were leading at halftime by about 50 points or more but they (Central Coast) came back really strongly.
"But it doesn't matter, we got the win and we're all really excited to have done it on our first anniversary."
The Brawlers were buoyed by the return of several players to the team for the big game.
"It was probably our most experienced side we've put together yet," Ansley said.
"We've had a couple players out through injury and pregnancies but we got them back for this game."
Most valuable player went to Krazy Kev aka Susan Day and most valuable blocker was awarded to The Naylor aka Kate Naylor.
The team will continue with their monthly scrimmages at the Wauchope Indoor Centre until they compete in the NSW Roller Derby Championships on the October long weekend.
Players from as far as Armidale make the trip for the friendly games.
"We play friendly scrimmage matches on the third Saturday of each month and the public are welcome to come and watch," Ansley said.
The matches start from 5pm.
