Richmond's chances of completing its miraculous run to the finals have been given a significant boost, with Sydney announcing on Saturday afternoon that Lance Franklin was a late withdrawal from its side.
The Swans face the Tigers at ANZ Stadium from 4:40pm (AEST), with the visitors needing to win in order to secure a September berth. A victory would be the Tigers' ninth in a row. Richmond shortened from $3.25 to $2.75 at Sportsbet following the news.
Youngster Zak Jones is Franklin's replacement, and is Sydney's sub. Richmond is unchanged, with Reece Conca to start in the green vest.
Franklin has all but secured the Coleman Medal after Hawk Jarryd Roughead kicked four goals against Collingwood on Friday night. Roughhead is five goals off Franklin's tally of 67, with Port's Jay Schulz the next best, having started his side's Saturday afternoon with Fremantle on 56.
Expect Buddy to return for the first final next week. No risks being taken coming off 6 day break from Etihad game. #goswans — Sydney Swans (@sydneyswans) August 30, 2014
