The first season of the sport's re-emergence in the area is coming to a close but the signs show it is here to stay.
After years of not having a competition in the Hastings several dedicated people turned the tide and a club and a competition was formed this year.
The sport went from nothing to boasting five full strength teams in the senior competition and a base at Blackbutt Park in Wauchope where the teams play each week.
The minor premiers of the very first returned season is the Pirates and the Buzz Caf Buzzards have been awarded as the most committed.
Action will continue on Sunday with the last of the competition games before the finals.
The Giants will play Wolfpack at noon followed by the Pirates and the Buzzards at 2.15pm.
The grand final will be decided on September 14.
But the good news doesn't stop there.
Next weekend Sydney based teams will make the trip north to take part in a number of exhibition matches.
A senior team, and under 18s team and a little league team will be involved.
Following on from the Sydney visit, the Hastings Baseball Association will be involved in a senior carnival held in Kempsey on September 21.
There the Hastings team will square off against teams from Taree, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour.
At the grass roots level the sport has also continued to grow.
The past winter competition accounted for 56 registrations and organisers are confident of eclipsing that total for the upcoming summer competition.
Registration days will be held on September 13 at Lakewood Woolworths from 9am until 11am, IGA Wauchope and Findlay Park from 9am until 10.30am the following day.
If a popular, fun, sport run on participation wasn't enough to convince you the club are offering a fantastic incentive to sign the youngsters up.
All current registrations can go into a draw to win two flights to the USA with tickets to an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game.
