Nominations for the 2015 Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day Awards are now open. Nominations are being received in four categories:
- Young Citizen of the Year (16-30 years);
- Citizen of the Year (31-65 years);
- Senior Citizen of the Year (65+ years) and
- the Community Group of the Year.
Mayor Peter Besseling said the awards provide an opportunity for residents to ‘take their hats off’ to those who inspire us and make our region a better place to live.
“There are many individuals and organisations working tirelessly for the betterment of the Port Macquarie-Hastings area,” Cr Besseling said.
“The Australia Day awards are a way of showing recognition and giving credit to those leaders amongst us who’s actions enrich our community.”
Nomination forms for each award category are available on Council's website and from Council offices and libraries. All nominees must be Australian citizens and live, work or study in the Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area.
The Australia Day Sub-Committee will judge the award nominees with winners to be honoured at a ceremony on 25 January 2015. All winners will be invited to participate in Australia Day events across Port Macquarie-Hastings on 26 January 2015.
Nominations close on Friday, November 29, 2014.
