Teams from Port Macquarie and Wauchope currently comprise a competitive social competition but from 2015 it is expected to grow from four teams to at least eight.
Richard McGovern is one of the people behind the newly formed competition which has been backed officially by Football Mid North Coast and Northern NSW.
"The competition is now up and running, with this season being the first season," he said.
"Although at the moment it's still competitive but more social than official."
Games are currently played in 40 minute halves and the players definitely get into it according to McGovern.
"It's a goal-a-thon but it's a lot of fun and everyone loves it," he said.
The reason for the push for the new competition was simple so that the older generation of soccer players weren't lost to the game.
"At the end of last season we realised that there are a lot of guys sitting between 35 and 45 years of age that don't want to chase the young kids around the field anymore," he said.
"They still have the skills and the love of the game but can't keep up with all the teenagers anymore, so we wanted to retain that age group where in previous years they dwindle out and don't come back to the game."
Players will be required to register for next season and currently registration is still being accepted for anyone wanting to play in the social competition.
To register you can go through either the Port United Football Club of the Wauchope Soccer Club.
