It has been two months since a suspected arsonist set alight a clothing bin adjacent to the store which quickly spread inside the building causing structural damage and destroying more than $50,000 worth of goods and equipment.

The fire was a devastating blow for the store, its staff and volunteers who were left to question the senseless act. Income generated from the store is an important financial contributor to Lifeline Mid Coast's telephone crisis support service.

While the store has remained closed for repairs and the Lifeline service feels the significant pinch of a lost income stream, a local business has stepped up and made an invaluable donation to help the organisation get back on its feet.

Infinity Investments Group has donated $2000 toward the shop repair which is expected to be complete and ready for business in several weeks.

"When we heard about the shop fire, we felt like it was an inadvertent attack on the community and those who need Lifeline's support," said Infinity Investments Group owner Graeme Holm.

"We had to help out as Lifeline is sometimes a forgotten hero."

Mid North Coast Lifeline business manager, Kurt Russell, and chief executive officer, Catherine Vaara, were overwhelmed by the generous donation.

"This will help rebuild our damaged Central Road shop, allowing us once again to be largely self sustainable in providing our local services of crisis support and suicide intervention and prevention" Ms Vaara said.

While there is still uncertainty about when the store will be back in action, Mr Russell hopes with the community's support the doors could be open in within the next few weeks.

"We are of the strong belief that the community of Port Macquarie will take this shop under its wing and help us to restock it when the time comes. We want the community to have ownership of this shop, to feel a part of it, as we have felt the support of so many locals during this hard time," Mr Russell said.
