A club has formed and a committee set, the only thing missing now is a track.
A resounding 28 people turned up to the meeting which was held on Thursday night showing organiser and the driving force behind the push, Craig Maltman, that BMX is well and truly on it's way back.
"I had no idea what to expect when I set the meeting," Maltman said.
"But to get 28 people there for the first ever meeting was a pretty good result."
The newly formed committee will meet for the first time tomorrow night at 6pm at Wesley Uniting Employment.
Maltman said he had already received offers of support from the likes of the organisation.
"I've been talking to the people who run the work for the dole initiative and they are keen to jump on board and get involved," he said.
"It just proves that this is a community project and this is something that will really benefit the community as a whole."
Maltman who was elected president of the yet-to-be-named club said a lot of issues needed to be ironed out before the club could move forward.
"There's a long way to go yet," he said.
"We need to get a lot of things sorted before we can look too far ahead at where and when we can build a track.
"There were some ideas thrown up at the meeting but first things first."
He said he would eventually approach council to see what assistance could be provided to see a track become a reality.
