The NRMA will support more than 30 youth surf events to be held at NSW beaches along the east coast.
The sponsorship, announced on Wednesday, July 17, by NRMA and Surfing NSW will benefit youth surfing and support Surfing NSW water safety initiatives including Surfers Rescue 24/7 a free CPR course available to the NSW community thanks to this partnership.
NRMA local Director Tim Trumper said this partnership enables the NRMA to support one of Australia’s favourite leisure activities. More than 40 per cent of NRMA’s 2.5 million Members live outside Sydney and many of them live by the coast and surf and swim regularly.
The NRMA’s youth program Free2go, a special Roadside Assistance Membership for young drivers aged 16-20 will underpin the organisations’ support which starts on July 20 as naming sponsor of the 2014 NSW Junior State titles in Port Macquarie.
“This year the NRMA celebrates 90 years as an integral part of road safety in NSW," Surfing NSW CEO Mark Windon said. "Surfing NSW has just celebrated 50 years of involvement in surfing as a sport and making beaches safer. Our organisations have a lot in common, I am looking forward to developing our like-minded partnership."
