The junior Auskickers aged from five to nine will run out on the SCG at the half time break of the Sydney Swans and Carlton match.
The young stars will then do what most people have only dreamed of: Play a game on the SCG.
Port Macquarie Magpies first grade coach Scott Abercrombie will be there with his two children Jack and Eloise.
He said despite their young age they were well aware of the big occasion.
“They understand how big it is for sure,” he said. “They’re really excited and both of them know it’s going to be a big buzz to play on the SCG.”
Abercrombie said not only do they get to run out and play but they get to see some of their biggest heroes, up close and
personal.
“We’ve got seats right up close to the action so they will get to see their heroes that they look up to play,” he said.
It’s an even bigger deal for young Jack who turned eight on Wednesday.
“All he wanted for his birthday was to go and watch the Swans play and now he gets to,” Abercrombie said.
The Magpies coach said the day was about attracting and keeping youngsters in the game of Australian rules but he admitted it wasn’t just the kids that were excited.
“Some of the parents are just as excited as the kids to be going,” he said.
The group of 18 from Port Macquarie will be joined by players and parents from Camden Haven and Kempsey.
