PORT City Breakers booked another Group 3 rugby league grand final berth yesterday with a good win over the Taree City Bulls at Regional Sports Stadium.
The Breakers triumphed 52-42 to set up a big grand final next weekend against the Wauchope Blues. Luke Ackroyd and Mitch Fowler scored hat-tricks for the Breakers, while Tristram Morris scored two and Adrian Daley also found his way onto the scoresheet.
Ackroyd kicked eight goals.
It didn’t take long for the Breakers to get going, with Ackroyd crashing over after just two minutes.
Taree City scored two quick tries in reply before Port went in again after 13 minutes when Morris scored the first of his tries.
The Breakers went to the halftime break 28-20 in front, before Fowler completed his hat-trick in the second half to take the score to 34-20. Ackroyd got into the act shortly after to take the score to 40-26.
