Wed, 11.20am: Police said the cyclist was hit by a female driver after she allegedly failed to see him on the roundabout.
The cyclist was heading north east towards town when he rode on to the roundabout from John Oxley Drive shortly before 8am, Senior Constable Steve Cherry said.
He was struck by a silver Nissan which entered the roundabout from John Oxley Highway. The 44 year-old woman driving told police she failed to see the cyclist.
The bike was mangled and the car had minor damage, Senior Constable Cherry said.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
Wed, 9.15am: A NSW Health spokeswoman has confirmed a 51-year-old male is in a stable condition in hospital.
Police have yet to reveal the cause of the crash.
Wed, 8.25am: Traffic flow has been restored to normal at the roundabout.
All lanes are now moving freely on the southern and northern approaches of the Oxley Highway, Wrights Road and John Oxley Drive.
The male cyclist has been taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment.
Police assisted with clearing traffic for the ambulances to transport the man who had lower back pain, an Ambulance NSW Media spokesman said.
Wed, 8.12am: PARAMEDICS are currently treating a person following an accident on the Wrights Road roundabout.
One man is being treated at the scene by paramedics. It is believed the injured person is a cyclist.
Traffic flow is restricted to one lane on the Oxley Highway.
There are two and possibly more vehicles involved in the incident.
Paramedics and police are at the scene.
Anyone driving west from Wauchope or the Pacific Highway is asked to take care.
